According to the theoreticians say, one of the routes to gain the competitiveness that there are lost is to lower the wages. If our industry were of very high qualification, this would not make lack because our competitors would be Germany, France,… but in the industry of the automobile they are Poland, Rumania,…
As in Spain there is little labor flexibility, the companies which is doing is to dismiss people necessary to reduce the labor costs. We put an example.
A company of 40 workers (it is clear that lsa multinational has all the prebandage to solve their problems) must reduce to its labor costs a 25% to survive, but needs those 40 employees to continue serving good. One considers then four options:
- To dismiss 25% of the group. He must make a ERE so he needs proceedings, lawyers,… as he does not have money discards, it.
- To reduce to the pay a 25% to the employees. The employees refuse and as in addition already the Collective Agreement is signed, the company cannot do nothing.
- To dismiss to the maximum of employees every year without having to make a ERE. As it does not have money, it dismisses the last ones to getting up itself without following no criterion of was worth, productivity, implication,… These dismissed employees are going to look for a new use and, they find if it, they accept a reduction of the pay of XX% reason why finally the labor costs are reduced (for the company by the dismissal and all the country because they make many companies).
- As the previous solution does not serve to him, it decides to close and to ask for contest of creditors. Simultaneously, it mounts another company and it offers to the employees of the previous one who change accepting a reduction of their pay of 25%. The employees cabrean themselves, but they do not have left more options than to accept the supply.
Will have who thinks that the industralist has itself been covering and now leaves them in the stockade, that sells properties to pay to them,… The sale of one or several properties does not solve the problem, that is that the company loses money, this would only cause that they continued receiving 1 or 2 years and would become to them to pose the problem.
Moral, would not have been better than, by means of a suitable labor flexibility, that all the employees had accepted a reduction of their pay.
